Baby Animals Rant the News
To date, we have produced well over an hour of animated content for our web based series entitled Baby Animals Rant the News which I co-created along with writer/ producer Dan Ewen. The series has a home on Twitter as well as a page on Facebook with over 1.6 million impressions on Twitter. We've been fortune to attract some well known voices for our 2 minute animated rants, which usually have a political slant, including comedian George Wallace and actress Constance Marie. We've currently produced 36 episodes and plan to hit the 100 episode mark. We've really enjoyed producing this series and look forward to continuing it as long as we can. The first episode premiered on Dec. 22, 2016. Tune in and follow us on our sites!
Connecticut Science Center Lava Animation
Lava Animation Video Link 01
The Connecticut Science Museum recently went through a LARGE renovation, and I was excited to be able to animate the 40 foot tall lava animation that is one of their new showcased pieces. The animation consisted of two one minute loopable cycles of animation (a resting state and an exploding state, pictured above) with :30 second transition animation inbetween so that the volcano can be active indefinitely. It was a ton of fun to do and always enjoy fun freelance projects like this. Can't wait to see it in person sometime.

Award of Excellence from the L.A. Movie Awards
'Lumin' was just recognized by the L.A. Movie Awards with an Award of Excellence. Though it didn't make it into the screening due to the large amount of entries, we're excited that the film was still honored. Still good news. Congrats again to everyone/ all the students involved in the film!
You can watch the film in its entirety here.

Scene 27 from Animatic
Scene 27/ UCF FILM from tom richner on Vimeo.
This is my first attempt at a 3D shot in Storyboard Pro 3D. It's basically doing what I want it to do. Need to get more comfortable with the tools in the program, but not bad for a first attempt (good enough for the animatic/ time to move on).

Meet The Guineas Animated Piece
This was an animated piece that went along with a pitch for a series called 'Meet the Guineas' (written by Dan Ewen and Eric Garcia). The characters were done in a cut-out style animation in Anime Studio Pro, a nice inexpensive little software package that allows you to add bones to your drawings. The background image was drawn by Chris Oatley.
Animated Piece
This was a piece I did for fun along with my Animation I class a few years back in Toonboom (back when it was Opus). The giraffe character is now the lead in the short film I am working on. Really liked that character and had wanted to do something with him for a while. He was part of a project I was developing with a friend, and so I used him in this exercise. This was kind of a goof on old silent films (maybe an old swiss film or something where its really dated and we really don't get the humor). I love a good vomit on screen! The projectile vomiting on SNL is always priceless.
Christopher Pop-In-Kins Commercial
Finished this piece in December of 2009. Won two bronze Telly Awards. Quick production, but everyone was happy with the results.
